Humanist Design
A world that makes sense.
Computers should make sense to human beings, not require human beings to learn to think like computers.
A document should remain the same thing wherever you work on it. A control should behave the way it looks. Your tools should respect your choices and let you arrange the work around you.
We call this Humanist Design: consistent rules, useful objects, room to explore, and sophisticated software that feels natural to use.
A supported picture, model, or document can be opened in a compatible tool and stay connected to the same work. Fewer exports, duplicate files, and “which version was that?” moments.
The familiar parts stay familiar.
Menus, controls, permissions, and themes share a foundation. A new application can feel like a new tool in a place you already know.
New tools can help old work.
Add an application with a useful view or operation, and compatible work can benefit from it. Your environment grows around what you choose to do.
An example
A project note includes a view of a supported model. A compatible editor changes the model. The connected view in the note keeps up. The explanation and the thing it explains can stay together.
Customization
You don’t have to like our favorite theme.
Choose the one that feels right to you.
A classic desktop can be comfortable. A modern workspace can be just as personal. Platinum’s shared theme system lets compatible apps follow your preferences, while keeping the layouts and specialized tools their work needs.
Float a palette, dock a toolbar, or give a document its own window where the app supports it. You get to have an opinion about your own computer again.

Security
You wanted a useful app. Not a new thing to worry about.
Platinum puts security into the shared foundation: recognizing applications, checking protected components, controlling access, and protecting communication.
Those responsibilities should not depend on every developer independently getting every detail right—or on you knowing which technical questions to ask. Apps use the common rules. For stronger protection, users can opt into kernel enforcement on both supported native platforms, including direct-syscall blocking for native extensions. The watchdog also works in user-space mode to detect and investigate suspicious app behavior, with fewer enforcement capabilities.
A different approach
Why should a better computer be a specialist’s project?
Security research showed how much could change when software stopped trusting everything around it. Earlier desktops showed how much better tools could feel when they were consistent, personal, and easy to explore.
Too often, those ideas lived apart: in research prototypes, specialist security environments, or the tools people still miss. Getting the benefits could mean becoming an administrator, accepting extra machinery, or giving up the experience you wanted.
Platinum brings those ambitions into the same application environment: defined boundaries, permissioned cooperation, modern cryptography, and a responsive GPU-backed interface.
We take compartmentalization seriously—the principle explored by specialist systems such as Qubes OS—and apply our own application-platform architecture to the everyday experience. Platinum Desktop installs alongside your existing system.
You should be able to try a different way of computing without making computer maintenance your new hobby.
